Buttermilk substitute using vinegar



If you are busy in the kitchen and realize that you have run out of buttermilk, you can use one tablespoon of lemon juice or one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar - for when the recipe called for one cup of buttermilk. If the recipe needs the liquid use regular milk for the remainder.

Add a tablespoon of vinegar to a cup of milk and let it stand for five minutes and you have made buttermilk.
